Badarinath is a Nagar panchayat in Chamoli District. It is one of the Dhams from CHAR DHAMS and it is also a part of Chota Char Dham. It is also known as "Badrikashrama". Badrinath is famous for its Badrinarayana Temple which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Badrinath gets its name from The Temple Badrinath and the temple of Badrinath is also scared pilgrimage for the devotes of Lord Vishnu. Legend Adi Shankaracharya discovered the image of Lord BadariNarayan from a black stone of Shaligram in the Alaknanda River. The temple is approximately 15m tall with a small cupola top made with gold roof.
